Are you wanting to stop white knuckling with your eating?
Today, I am going to be talking about why white knuckling can feel like we are creating resistance when it comes to weight loss. If we can allow our brains to think urges are normal then it allows for us to feel less judgmental about those urges. If you can think about about holding a beach ball under the water that would feel like white knuckling. With all your might you are keeping that ball under the water and all it wants to do is pop back up. So when it comes to our thoughts with white knuckling it could look like ” this shouldn’t be happening” which then creates resistance. If you could think about the beach ball and you would never say ” this shouldn’t be happening” to the ball wanting to pop up out of the water, you know that a beach ball is not goin to stay underwater even when we are pushing it down it wants to come back up. Just like diet mentality, it wants to creep back in and our brain wants to go back to what we used to do in hopes that it will work this time. Many times that looks like white knuckling and just doing whatever it takes to get the weight off even if it’s not sustainable. Hear what I have to say about this topic and more on the podcast.
